UNCTAD through its Unit on Economic Cooperation and Integration among Developing Countries (ECIDC) in the Division on Globalization and Development Strategies, encourages the sharing of successful policy experiences among developing countries. In this context, the Unit is implementing a project on “South-South Integration and The SDGs: Enhancing Structural Transformation in Key Partner Countries of the Belt and Road Initiative” funded by the UN Peace and Development Fund for the period 2018-2021. The project aims to encourage peer-learning from Chinese policy experiences by other developing countries, particularly those participating to the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). The project’s main activities consist of analytical research aimed at: (i) revisiting China’s development policy experiences to improve the understanding of its success and identify few key lessons learned; and (ii) encouraging policy peer learning among developing countries. The project has also launched UNCTAD BRI Platform to share the successful policy experiences among the developing counties. This sharing will help to enhance the capacity of the pilot countries to strengthen their policies for structural transformation for achieving 2030 Agenda.
